PURPOSE: A device and a method for controlling the kick downshift of an automatic transmission are provided to offer the uniform shift feeling by performing kick downshift without a shift shock when the temperature of intake air is high or an air conditioner is turned on. CONSTITUTION: A transmission control unit decides the acceleration will of a driver and the input of a kick downshift request signal(S100,S110). The temperature of the intake air inputted from an engine control unit is compared to a reference value(S120). If the temperature of the intake air is higher than the reference value, the hydraulic pressure is reduced(S130). Otherwise, the operating state of an air conditioner is detected(S140). If the air conditioner is turned on, a duty is compensated. By performing speed change using a transmission duty control signal, the shift shock at the early state of kick downshift is prevented. |
