PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite information recorder provided with a first recording means recording information onto a detachable recording medium and with a second recording means acting like an auxiliary function of the first recording means, that sets the recording capacity of areas acting like the auxiliary function of the first recording means in just proportion and sufficiently reserves the capacity of the second recording means to record other information. SOLUTION: The composite information recorder is provided with a tape recording and playing back section 16 that records information onto a magnetic tape and with a disk recording and playing back section 20 that records information onto a magnetic disk 200. The magnetic disk 200 is provided with a temporary storage area acting like the auxiliary function when recording information onto the magnetic tape and the recording capacity of the temporary storage area is set to be about a half of the recording capacity of the magnetic tape.
