PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microscope which enables a stable sample operation in the application of operating the sample with a laser beam and is excellent in operability. SOLUTION: Excitation light which is generated by a vertical fluorescent device 22 is applied to the sample 1 via an objective lens 2 which is disposed on the down side of a sample 1, the laser beam which is generated by a laser light source is applied to the sample 1 via the objective lens 2, further, an image formation lens 11 which condenses the laser beam which is applied to the sample 1 to the sample 1 is held on a cylindrical movable member 18, the image formation lens 11 is moved in the direction of optical axis of the laser beam by the movable member 18 and the laser beam is condensed on the position most suitable to the objective lens 2.
