PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a servo control system which prevents the deterioration in pulling in of servo control at effect detection or layer jump, and improves the regulation accuracy of a focus servo control system and a regulating method for the same as well as an information reproducer. SOLUTION: The servo control system includes an FE signal forming circuit 20 which forms a focus error signal FE in accordance with the detection signal from an optical pickup 12, a focus servo control section 30 which caries out focus servo control in accordance with the focus error signal FE, an RF ripple signal forming circuit 22 which forms a ripple signal PFRP of a regenerative signal RF in accordance with the detection signal from the optical pickup 12 and a focus balance regulating section 60 which carries out focus balance regulating in accordance with the ripple signal RFP of the regenerative signal RF. The focus balance regulating section 60 carries out the focus balance regulation of the FE signal forming surface 20 and the focus balance regulation of the focus servo control section 30 during the rough regulation and fine regulation of focus loop gain regulation.
