PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear motor compressor superior in compression efficiency and reduceable in size and weight by devising the shape/arrangement of a permanent magnet and an armature coil. SOLUTION: The linear motor compressor comprises a yoke having an annular space, provided in a case member having a cylindrical hollow portion on the inner periphery thereof, a cylinder having a compression chamber at the center thereof, provided on the inside thereof, and pistons to be reciprocated in the axial direction, provided on both sides across the compression chamber, each piston being connected to a movable coil to form a magnetic circuit in a space to the permanent magnet provided on the inside of the yoke for reciprocating each piston in the axial direction. The permanent magnet provided on the yoke has an annular three-split structure with a predetermined space in the axial direction and each armature coil for the movable coil has a three-split structure with a predetermined space in the axial direction.
