PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a working face forward probing method and a probing device capable of precisely obtaining physical properties and a position of a rock bed ahead of a tunnel working face or a ground ahead of a shaft working face. SOLUTION: A solitary wave 30, which is an elastic wave having a property that the waveform is not collapsed during propagation into the rock-bed 18 or the ground, is inputted into the rock-bed 18 ahead of the working face 17 or the ground, and a reflected wave of the solitary wave 30 reflected from a reflecting object in the rock-bed 18 or the ground is detected. The physical properties and the position of the reflecting object are obtained based on the detected reflected wave. |
