PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a large shock caused by an abrupt close a swash plate of a hydraulic pump when it abruptly returns to a neutral position in a check relief valve having functions of a check valve and a relief valve provided in a conventional hydraulic continuously variable transmission. SOLUTION: This check relief valve 35 has the functions of the check valve and the relief valve and it is provided between a main circuit 32m and a charge circuit 32c of a hydraulic continuously variable transmission 10. A check spring chamber 61 housing a check spring 57 for the check valve and the main circuit 32m are communicated by an orifice 56b.
