PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output pulses for detection with optimum heating power. SOLUTION: Plural times of trial writing are first carried out by stepwise changing the heating powers in the trial writing region of an optical disk (step S1). This trial writing is carried out for each of multipulse trains and the pulses for detection. The reflection signals RF in this recording are sample held in a sampling circuit (step S2). Next, modulation degrees m1 and m2 for each of the multipulse trains and the pulses for detection are determined in first and second power computation circuits by using the respective sample-held values and the optimum heating powers Pw1o and Pw2o of each of the multipulse trains and the pulses for detection are calculated by these modulation degrees m1 and m2 (step S3). |
