PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of extracting the flesh-colored portion of a face image when performing face-based image processing such as makeup simulation or hair style simulation on the Internet. SOLUTION: A binary image which uses average brightness as a threshold is obtained from an image of a photography of a face and the centerline of the face is determined by analyzing the binary image. The centerline is tracked to determine the portion of the face between the hairline on the forehead and eyebrows. Based on the brightness, hue and saturation of the flesh color of that portion, the original image of the photography of the face is binarized again to obtain a binary image where only the flesh-colored portion of the face is displayed in white. |
