PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone set capable of performing communication with an opposite party provided that just two fingers are free. SOLUTION: In the portable telephone set 1, with which a receiver 5 and a microphone which are unitized are integrally attached to an electric cord 8 freely extensibly/contractibly extended from the portable telephone set 1, electricity can be turned on and off, and the electricity can automatically be turned on or off corresponding to the extension/contraction of the electric cord 8. Also, by disengaging a releaser used also as an electricity turning on/off changeover switch 13, the recover and the microphone pop out automatically and the power is simultaneously turned on.
