PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the manufacturing and assembly in the detection of a neutral state of a transmission by use of a detection switch based upon a position of a shift operation shaft in the transmission wherein a shift gear to be shifted is selected by moving the shift operation shaft provided with an integrally moving shifting arm and alternatively engaging the shifting arm with a plurality of shifters and the shift gear is shifted by moving the shifter by the shifting arm. SOLUTION: When the shift operation shaft 13 is moved in a moving direction for a shift gear selection and positioned in a predetermined position, the shifting arm 15 is positioned in a position deviated from a position where the shifters 18 and 19 should be moved with respect to all the shifters 18 and 19. The detection switch 8 becomes a state of neutral detection regarding only the position of the shift operation shaft 13 at this point as a detection object position.
