摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tracking controller and tracking control method for an optical disk device consuming less electric power. SOLUTION: This tracking controller has the constitution to detect the decentering quantity of an optical disk in accordance with the shift quantity of an objective lens in recording or reproducing and to change the moving quantity of a traversing motor according to the decentering quantity. As a result, the number of start and stop times of the traversing motor is decreased and the electric power consumption of the traversing motor is lessened.
