METHOD FOR FORMING ELECTRODE OF FLAT PANEL DISPLAY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming electrodes of a flat panel display(FPD) by an ink-jet printer by using ink for an ink-jet system. SOLUTION: The method includes a first process of bringing metal vapor into contact with vapor of a first solvent by a gas vaporization method to obtain a dispersion liquid of metal ultrafine particles, a second process of adding a second solvent which is a low mol.wt. polar solvent to the obtained dispersion liquid to sediment the metal ultrafine particles and to extract and remove the first solvent, and a third process of further adding a third solvent to the sediment to substitute the solvent to obtain a dispersion liquid of metal ultrafine particles. A dispersant is added in the first and/or third process to obtain the ink for an ink-jet system consisting of a dispersion liquid having excellent ink characteristics. In the liquid, metal ultrafine particles having <=100 nm particle size are uniformly dispersed in an independent state. The ink for an ink-jet system is used to form the electrodes of a FPD.
