PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive device for an elevator, whose dimensions are reduced as a whose while a power supply power factor is improved and whose efficiency is improved. SOLUTION: A microcomputer 20 includes a power factor improving control means and a step-up voltage control means. The power factor improving control means detects a voltage phase of a rectified voltage 24 by a phase detection means 15 and switches a high-frequency transistor in a step-up chopper 3 via a drive circuit 17, so as to synchronize the phase of a power supply current with the detected voltage phase and the step-up voltage control means switches the high-frequency transistor in the step-up chopper 3 so as to make a step-up voltage 25 have a certain constant value. Further, when a motor 6 is not driven, the microcomputer 20 receives an operation control signal 26 from a changeover control means contained in a microcomputer 21 to stop the switching operation of the high-frequency transistor. |
