PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus that minimizes a quantity of an area separation setting table/filter setting table and can optimally separate areas even in the case of an original with a thin density. SOLUTION: In the image processing apparatus having an original read section that reads an original to generate input data, an area separation section that uses the input data to identify a character area, a photo area or a dot area of the original, a density conversion section that converts the density on the basis of the density conversion table that is preset for the input data, and a filter section that applies filter processing to each of areas separated by the area separation section on the basis of the filter setting table set in advance, the image data read by the original read processing (S1) are processed in the order of the density conversion processing (S4) and the area separation processing (S5) and then subjected to the filter processing (S6) when the conversion density is set darker, and the image data read by the original read processing (S1) are processed in the order of the area separation processing (S2) and the density conversion processing (S3) and then subjected to the filter processing (S6) when the conversion density is set rather thinner. |
