PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide both a molten metal component measuring method capable of obtaining a measuring plane stably at all times regardless of the condition of a molten metal bulk and measuring molten metal components by a non- contact-type molten metal component measuring device through the use of the measuring plane and a molten metal component control method using the same. SOLUTION: Molten metal is sampled in a tubular probe main body 2. By continuously supplying a higher-pressure gas than an atmospheric pressure from above toward the surface of the molten metal sampled in the probe main body 2 and continuously discharging the gas from the side walls of the probe main body 2, the measuring plane S is formed in the surface of the molten metal. Through the use of the measuring plane S, predetermined molten metal components are measured by the non-contact-type molten metal component measuring device. On the results of the measurement, the molten metal components are controlled.
