PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend a heater life and also to improve the free material selection of a substance having good heat absorption by enabling lowering the temperature of an evaporation heater in a process forming a heat absorbing film on a metal-backed layer. SOLUTION: A manufacturing method for a color cathode-ray tube has a process such that a metal-backed layer 18 is formed on a phosphor layer 3 of inner face of a panel 2, and a process such that a heat absorbing film 19 is formed on the metal-backed layer 18. In the manufacturing method, a mixture 13 of aluminum and a subsistence having higher melting point and better heat absorption than aluminum is used for a heat absorbing film material, and the heat absorbing film 19 is formed by vacuum vapor deposition of the mixture. This causes the substance having good heat absorption to lower of the melting point, enables vapor deposition at lower temperature and enables lowering the temperature of the evaporation heater in order to extend the heater life and also in order to improve the free material selection of the substance having good heat absorption.
