PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-contact IC card reading/writing device capable of enlarging a communication distance to an IC card and normally reading and writing the data even in the case that the IC card comes close to the device. SOLUTION: This non-contact IC card reading/writing device is provided with a signal intensity detecting means 35 for detecting the intensity of the signal received from an IC card 1 and a transmission power switching means 14 and 17 for switching the ratio transmission power to the IC card in response to the signal intensity detected by the signal intensity detecting means. A communication distance to the IC card can be enlarged by increasing the radio transmission power, and when the IC card comes close to the device, operation of the IC card is stabilized by decreasing the transmission power.
