PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader capable of synchronizing various kinds of control signals without changing circuit constitution in the case of having changed the ratio of the driving frequency of a photoelectric conversion means and an input clock frequency, the number of the output channels of the photoelectric conversion means, adjusting precision with respect to the pulse width and the phase of a control signal, etc. SOLUTION: The reader is provided with PLL circuits 23 and 33 for generating multiplied clocks TC1 and TC2 respectively to an analog signal part 20 and a digital signal part 30, a multiplication rate deciding circuit 24 for deciding multiplication rates (m) and (n) in the circuits 23 and 33 and a rest signal generation circuit 29 for generating a reset signal. Then, the circuit 24 sets the rates (m) and (n) in the circuits 23 and 33 in accordance with a fixed relation to synchronize control signals at the part 20 and the part 30 by the reset signal RE (ARE) generated by the circuit 29.
