PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily construct a fingerprint checking apparatus at low cost. SOLUTION: A flat bed type scanner SN of a copier has contact glass 1, a pressure plate 2, a light source part 12 and an image pickup part 13. A transparent member 21 constituting lenses 28 and 29 is secured to the upper surface of an end portion of the contact glass 1 and a triangular prism 22 is secured to the upper surface of the transparent member 21. An inclined surface of the prism 22 serves as a fingerprint checking surface 23 against which a fingertip F is pressed. After detection light rays from the light source part 12 are applied to the fingerprint checking surface 23 and subjected to specular reflection, they are made to impinge on the image pickup part 13 through the lenses 28 and 29. As shown in Figure 4, a prism 42 constituting the fingerprint checking surface 23 may be disposed on a case 11 at approximately the same height as the contact glass 1 and reflecting mirrors 47 and 48 may be disposed therebelow. By forming an opening 30 (31) in the pressure plate 2, the fingertip F can be pressed against the fingerprint checking surface 23 even when the pressure plate 2 is closed. |
