PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an audio reproducing device which can easily reproduce audio information stored in a semiconductor memory while being compressed according to MP3 format, with high quality by using a general tape reproducing device. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a case 10 in the same external shape as that of a compact cassette, a battery 1 which is loaded in the case, a reproducing circuit 3 which restores audio information compressed and stored in the semiconductor memory 2 by using the battery as a driving source, a rotation transmitting mechanism 5 having a couple of reel hubs connected, a rotation detector 6 which controls the operation of the reproducing circuit by detecting the rotation of a rotating mechanism or the reel hubs, and an output head 4 which is provided so that it can magnetically be coupled with the magnetic head of a tape reproducing device to which the case is to be loaded and outputs the audio information restored by the reproducing circuit.
