<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an electrophotographic spherical toner excellent in low temperature fixability, causing no problem on anti- offsetting property in practical use, excellent also in fluidity and durability and having a narrow particle size distribution. SOLUTION: In the method for producing the electrophotographic spherical toner, a molten colored resin (I) consisting essentially of a polyester resin (A) having both carboxyl groups and 5-membered ring carbonate groups and a colorant (B) is dispersed in an aqueous medium (II) containing a basic compound (D) in the presence of a catalyst (C) for the ring opening of the 5-membered ring carbonate groups while maintaining the molten state of the polyester resin (A), the neutralization of carboxyl groups in the polyester resin (A) with the basic compound and the reaction of the 5-membered ring carbonate groups with carboxyl groups in the polyester resin (A) by ring opening is carried out and the resulting fine colored resin particles are separated.</p> |
