PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide photographic emulsion having high sensitivity, good preservability and small dependence on processing, and a photographic sensitive material using the emulsion. SOLUTION: In the silver halide photographic emulsion, the coefficient of variation in equivalent circular diameter of all grains is <=30%, and >=70% of the total projected area is occupied by silver halide grains which satisfy the following requirements; (i) the grains are silver iodochlorobromide flat platy grains having (111) faces as principal surface, (ii) each of the grains has an epitaxial joint in at least one apex and (iii) each of the grains has at least one dislocation line in the epitaxial part.
