The invention relates to a device for controlling the transmission and playback of digital signals and media, in particular, compressed audio, music and/or voice signals, which are held in one or more data source(s) (servers), ready for calling up by means of one or more control command(s) by one or more playback devices (users). The aim of the invention, is to control the transmission and playback of digital signals, in particular audio, music and voice signals directly by the user, within the source holding the files whilst avoiding complicated installation procedures. Said aim is achieved, whereby firstly a pattern information profile is sent to a user interface and then the corresponding digital signals are sent from the data source to the user, after triggering by a control command from the user, the above are played back using a decoder and preparation of the digital signals in the server is simultaneously controlled in an interactive manner by the user, by means of the user interface.
