A fuel injection valve (1), especially for direct injection of fuel into a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine, comprises an actuator (10) which is functionally connected to a valve needle (3). Said valve needle (3) has a valve closing body (4) at the end on the injection side, said valve closing body interacting with a valve seat surface (6) which is configured on a valve seat body (5) to form a sealed seat. A swirl plate (36), in which swirl channels (38) are configured, is also provided. Said swirl plate (36) has extensions (39) which interact with a cam plate (37) in such a way that a tangential component of the swirl that is produced by the swirl plate (36) can be modified.
