Automotive door stay limits movement by valve controlled sliding piston in cylinder

The movement of an open automotive door is limited by a mechanical stay with a brake. The stay consists of a cylinder (1) around a sliding piston (2), both ends of which terminate against a pressure chamber (4, 5). The piston (2) has progressive back-flow prevention valves (6, 7) with high pressure opening pressures. Each valve blocks one pressure valve.
