A drinks bottling plant has a bottle (5) feed conveyer (1) which presents bottles shoulder to shoulder to an inlet paddle wheel (2). The paddle wheel throws the bottle forward onto a faster conveyer (3) which surrenders the individual bottle to a spacer feed array (4) with pick-ups (21, 47) at the required intervals.
