The pipe(1), comprises a plastic inner layer(3) and a plastic outer layer(2) sandwiching a metallic layer(4). An existing welding method for joining plastic pipes is employed and the welding temperature used is adapted to the melting point of the plastic forming inner and outer layers. Independent claims are made for: a) a connecting point between a multi-layer composite pipe(1) of the described type and an additional pipe section(5) partly made of plastic in which the both pipes overlap at the connecting point(10) and are welded together; b) a component of a welding tool with a mandrel for heating an inner plastic layer of the composite pipe and an outer stop face forming a circumferential raised area which increases the heat supply to the end face of a pipe; c) a component of a welding tool with a pot-shaped area for heating an outer plastic layer of the pipe and a central raised area at the base of the pot to heat the end face of a pipe. |
