DUAL SUBSTRATE CULTIVATION

The present invention relates to a bacterial culture and a method of cultivation using the bacterial culture. The bacterial culture comprising a first and a second bacterial strain, wherein both the first and the second bacterial strain at least produces the same product and are able to utilise a first carbon source A. The second bacterial strain has been produced by modification of the first bacterial strain. One of the strains can furthermore utilise a second carbon source B, which the other bacterial strain is unable to utilise as a carbon source. The bacterial culture in combination with a sequential feeding strategy of the carbon sources A and B enables an improved cultivation technique, such as fermentation in which high biomass and product concentrations are obtained.
