A method of operating an injector (8) of a combustion engine (1) with a voltage source (24), voltage supply (Ub) device corresponding to the potential difference between a high side (VHS) and a low side potential (VLS). A boost capacitor (14) is used to actuate an injector (8) with electrical energy. The actual potential (VCB(IST)) of the boost-capacitor (14) is detected and from this and a desired potential (VCB(SW)) a potential deviation (dVCB) is determined and the high charge converter (13) regulates the actual potential (VCB(IST)) of the boost capacitor to the desired potential (VCB(SW)).
