Method for filtering damping medium (6) that is transported through a pipeline (30). Filtering is undertaken by forcing the medium through a pressure filter (42) using a compression pump (40). The compression pump is activated if the pressure in the line (30) temporarily increases after the damping medium transport pump (24) is switched on. An Independent claim is made for a corresponding device for filtering damping medium used in offset printing.
