RECORDING/REPRODUCING APPARATUS AND RECORD MEDIUM

A recording/reproducing apparatus, a program, and a record medium are disclosed. Specifically the recording/reproducing apparatus is used for recording/reproducing video on/from a random-accessible record medium. The recording/reproducing apparatus is adapted to display information recorded on a record medium visually in a way that the information is easy to recognized, to receive an input by the user by using the display, and to display sufficient information to the user. The apparatus is easy to operate. The recording/reproducing apparatus comprises quantitative display means for visually and quantitatively displaying the time for which video is recorded and the time for which video can be recorded, recording indicator control means for displaying at least either the reproduction position in the quantitative display of the video being reproduced or the recording position in the quantitative display of the vide being recorded, and an indicator selecting/executing means for selecting at least one of display objects, namely, a reproduction indicator, a recording indicator, and the quantitative display and executing a processing according to an inputted predetermined instruction and the selected display object.
