The cotyloid cup (1) has a cavity to receive the spherical head of a hip joint prosthesis, a hemispherical body with a porous outer surface for optimum cohesion with the pelvic bone, and radial anti-rotation vanes (3) on its outer surface extending from a median zone to a proximal area without reaching the rim (4). The fins taper towards the flattened polar region (2) of the cup and are designed to avoid damaging surrounding tissues.
