The installation tool is for a rotary spring (3) of the two-legged type for a device for stroke adjustment of a gas exchange valve in the cylinder head of an internal combustion engine. The rotary spring in the installed position is tensioned and each spring leg (6) applies a spring force on a pivot lever of the stroke adjustment device. The installation tool has a support part (2) and a tension part (15), which is movably and particularly pivotably located on the support part. With the installation tool opened, the rotary spring is positionable in an accommodation position. When the tool is closed, by pivoting the tension part in relation to the support part, two tension hooks (23) grip the two spring legs, so that the rotary spring, without loading the pivot lever, can be fitted in its installation position or dismantled from that position.
