OILCLOTH AND LAMP BLACK

The invention relates to a process for producing oilcloth charged with lamp black, having a uniform dispersion of nanosize particles of lamp black. Soft lamp black is received in the form of a paste in water and it is then added to the latex oilcloth before or after coagulation in a plant of styrene-butadie ne emulsion oilcloth or the soft lamp black is similarly incorporated into the oilcloth using a different process for the production of the oilcloth. A uniform dispersion of particles of lamp black is formed, the particles being smaller than usual. This provides a master batch of black oilcloth having better mechanical and rheological properties. Sand and ash are removed from the watery paste of soft lamp black thereby further improving the properties of oilcloth charged with lamp black by reducing the defects in the oilcloth caused by the ashes or the sand.
