摘要 The present invention relates to a method of metal coating for an optical fiber grating with a long period. More specifically, the present invention relates to a method of using silver (Ag) as a coating material for an optical fiber through ascertaining its characteristics after silver is coated on the surface of the optical fiber using a silver mirror reaction. The present invention shows a metal coating method for an optical fiber grating with a long period in which metal is coated on the surface of an optical fiber grating with a long period that contains a single grating or a pair of gratings, wherein silver is coated on some specific parts on the upper and lower surface of an optical fiber grating with a long period is coated with silver using a silver mirror reaction. Hence, the present invention has the following advantages, 1) it can be used in a high temperature environment which is characteristical of a metal and can prolong the life of an optical fiber by protecting it from dampness, 2) it is very useful for device packaging since it can be soldered, 3) due to its short coating time, mass fabrication is possible. And it can have a wide range of applications such as optical fiber sensors or filters.
