METHOD OF DETECTING ABNORMAL GENE

A technique usable in gene diagnosis whereby an abnormal gene can be conveniently and highly sensitively detected is disclosed. An abnormal gene is detected by: in a reversed micelle, hybridizing a nucleic acid oligomer having the base sequence of a normal gene with a probe having a base sequence complementary to this base sequence; in a different reversed micelle, hybridizing the nucleic acid oligomer having the base sequence of the normal gene as described above with a probe having the base sequence of an abnormal gene with a mutation in a part of the above base sequence; and detecting the abnormal gene by examining the difference in the reaction speed between these hybridizations. The reaction speeds of the hybridizations are determined by, for example, measuring changes in the absorbance in the ultraviolet region.
