The connecting system for attaching a gear shift linkage (1) to a gearbox (37) comprises a tubular spacer (3) with a shoulder (15) at its base which passes through an elastomeric sleeve attached to the linkage. A bolt (4) is fitted through the spacer with a washer (5b) between its head and the top of the elastomeric sleeve. Alternatively the bolt carries an integral flange instead of the washer.
