The firing device comprises a barrel (1), a loading device for placing the projectile (2) inside the barrel, a chamber (5) in communication with the barrel for receiving an explosive gas or liquid charge, and a detonation device (12) for the charge, a feed and removal device (10, 11) for the explosive charge material. A magnetic device (14) in the part of the chamber next to the barrel is used to releasably fix the projectile into its firing position in the open end of the chamber leading into the barrel, so that this open end of the chamber is sealed by the projectile.
