Coating and/or impregnating the surfaces of fibers or particles (A) comprises the use of precursor coating/impregnating compositions that (i) contain reactive solid substances, and optionally binders, and (ii) are at least partly freed of water and/or solvents. The process depends on the chemically or physically reactive action of one or more reactive and/or catalytic gases in closed or open reactors. The gases are released, within the reactor, from particulate and/or solid molded gas-storage particles (B) in which the gases are present in physically or chemically bound, capillary-condensed, adsorbed, absorbed, adherent, compressed, liquid and/or solid form, and release occurs automatically under process conditions. (B) are in direct contact with (A) during reaction, or very close to them. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a material coated with active agents produced as above; and (b) coffee filters containing at least one oxide of heavy metal or metalloid, mixed oxide or hydroxide, and at least one alkaline earth carbonate. |
