The invention relates to a device for recognising the risk of aquaplaning which can occur during the driving of a vehicle. Said device comprises a first means enabling a first traction variable to be determined, describing the traction of the vehicle based on the operating condition of the motor and/or the drive train. The inventive device also comprises second means enabling a second traction variable to be determined, describing the actual traction of the vehicle when driving, resulting from the longitudinal acceleration acting on said vehicle. The presence of the risk of aquaplaning is deduced according to a deviation between the first and the second traction variables.
