CONTROL METHOD FOR ARC WELDING PROCESS AND ARC WELDING APPARATUS

A control method of arc welding in which positional control of an electrode or a torch is performed while regulating the welding conditions based on optica l information obtained from arc light emitted at the time of arc welding. The optical information obtained from arc light, i.e. illuminance, has a specifi c correlation with the arc length or the torch height and welding control is performed based on the illuminance. The control method has a step for comparing the illuminance with reference information based on the correlatio n, and a step for regulating the welding conditions based on the comparison results.
