Treatment procedure for contaminated meal of animal origin by creating biological fermentation to produce a combustible gas and incinerating liquid effluent, is new. The treatment procedure comprises: (a) a bacteriological fermentation is promoted to generate a combustible gas; (b) the gas is recuperated; (c) the liquid resulting from the fermentation is clarified and separated into sludge and aqueous phases; (d) the contaminants are extracted from the aqueous phase in the form of a concentrated brine; (e) the brine and sludge are incinerated at a temperature that is high enough to destroy the contaminants, i.e. at least 400 degrees C and preferably 500 degrees C using the combustible gas (methane) resulting from the fermentation as fuel. The procedure can include an initial stage in which the meal is hydrolysed by enzyme action prior to fermentation, and the concentrated brine is obtained by evaporation followed by filtration by inverse osmosis.
|
