PURPOSE: An exhaust gas cleaner for a vehicle is provided to easily measure BOD(Biochemical Oxygen Demand) and to minimize the amount of the noxious gas discharged to the atmosphere by preparing a space for installation of an oxygen sensor in an exhaust gas cleaner. CONSTITUTION: An exhaust gas cleaner for a vehicle comprises a shell(53) including a catalyst(51) and a mat(52) and an end cone(56) consisting of an outer end cone(57) and an inner end cone(58). A space(61) for installation of an oxygen sensor is formed in the middle of the catalyst. A retainer(62) for prevention of the corrosion of the mat due to exhaust gas is installed in the space. With the oxygen sensor, BOD is measured easily. Even if the catalyst is separated from the mat, the catalyst and the mat are retained in the stable state. Particularly, the transmission of the exhaust gas to the mat is blocked up. Thus, the corrosion of the mat is avoided.
