PURPOSE: A side mirror defrosting device is provided to prevent a side mirror from being frosted by coating a tetra ethyl ortho-silicate(TEOS) insulation coating on the back surface of a chrome reflective layer and applying a silver-paste hot wire on the back surface of the TEOS insulation coating. CONSTITUTION: A chrome reflecting surface(12) is coated on the back surface of a mirror face(11) of a side mirror(10). A tetra ethyl ortho-silicate(TEOS) insulation coating(13) is coated on the back surface of a chrome reflective layer(12). A silver-paste hot wire(14) is applied on the back surface of the tetra ethyl ortho-silicate(TEOS) insulation coating(13) in a zigzag pattern. This structure is heat treated under vacuum in an atmosphere of inert gases such as helium, argon, nitrogen for 30 minutes at a temperature of approximately 500 °C.
