PURPOSE: An AAL2(Asynchronous Transfer Mode Adaptation Layer 2) switch is provided to increase the efficiency of a system by switching an AAL2 traffic at an AAL level using an AAL2/AAL5 converter. CONSTITUTION: An AAL2/AAL5 converter(100) demultiplexes a received AAL2 ATM cell, extracts an AAL2 CPS packet, and generates the AAL2 ATM cell as an independent AAL5 ATM cell according to first conversation information to the extracted AAL2 CPS packet. An AAL5/AAL2 converter(200) generates the AAL5 ATM cell as an AAL2 CPS packet using second conversion information, multiplexes the generated AAL2 CPS packet and an other AAL2 CPS packet, and generates the AAL5 ATM cell as an AAL2 ATM cell.
