METHOD OF RECORDING/REPRODUCING REPRESENTATIVE AUDIO DATA, RECORDING/REPRODUCING DEVICE AND RECORDING MEDIUM THEREOF

PURPOSE: A method of recording/reproducing representative audio data is provided to record and reproduce representative audio data representing each piece of music for an easy searching, thereby quickly reproducing demanded music from a recording medium having many audio tracks. CONSTITUTION: A data recorder/reader reads predetermined representative audio data from a predetermined audio track(601). A system controller confirms an encoding method of the read representative audio data. If the encoding method is different from an adopted encoding method, the first audio decoder decodes the read representative audio data(603). An audio encoder encodes the decoded representative audio data in a predetermined encoding method(604). The data recorder/reader records the encoded representative audio data on a separate area from the audio track under control of the system controller(605). If the encoding method is equal to the adopted encoding method, the data recorder/reader immediately records the representative audio data. Reproduction control information of the representative audio data is recorded on a predetermined area under control of the system controller(606).
