The manufacturing method comprises assembling several pieces of sheet metal (4-9) to form a casing (1) with a longitudinal axis (2) and two open ends. One of the casing ends is closed by fixing a dished end. A pair of assembly elements are fixed on the cylindrical casing. The casing and the dished end are divided along the median plane (M) in order to obtain two independent units (2,3) thus constituting two rounded open caissons. AN Independent claim is included for an industrial vehicle comprising an open caisson.
