<p>Curable epoxy resin mixtures containing a homogeneous, liquid hardener component obtained by mixing cyclic carboxylic acid anhydrides, at least one of which is a solid under normal conditions, in a ratio such that the mixture has a melting point below room temperature (RT) and keeping the mixture at RT before dissolving it in the epoxide component. A method for the production of a hardenable mixture containing (A) a polyepoxide component and (B) a hardener component comprising a mixture of at least two cyclic carboxylic acid anhydrides (b1, b2) in which at least one anhydride is a solid under normal conditions and the ratio of b1:b2 is such that the melting point of the mixture is below room temperature (RT). The method involves mixing (b1) and (b2) at RT to give a homogeneous, liquid hardener (B), leaving the blend at RT and dissolving it in component (A). Independent claims are also included for (a) a method for the production of a hardener component which is liquid and homogeneous at RT by mixing (b1) and (b2) at RT and leaving the blend at RT; (b) liquid and homogeneous hardener components made by this method; (c) a hardener component comprising a liquid and homogeneous mixture of maleic anhydride (MA) and hexahydrophthalic anhydride (HHPA), preferably in amounts of 60 and 40 wt% respectively.</p> |
