PURPOSE: A seat belt pretensioner structure is provided to increase restraint force on a passenger's body and to improve the safety property by allowing a webbing of a seat belt unwound by the action of wearing the seat belt to be rewound onto a spool by the virtue of explosive force of gunpowder. CONSTITUTION: A seat belt pretensioner structure comprises a spool(12), a supporting bracket, an operating member(18), a geared member(17), and a gunpowder loaded portion(20). A webbing is wound onto the spool(12). The supporting bracket surrounds the spool(12) such that the spool(12) is resiliently supported by a spring portion and a fixing portion to be cable of winding the webbing. The operating member(18) is mounted to a rotating shaft(15), which supports the spool(12), so that the operating member(18) is slidable only in the longitudinal direction thereof. The geared member(17) is formed with a thread which selectively engages guide projections formed in an outer peripheral surface of the operating member(18). The geared member(17) is rotated integrally with the spool(12). The gunpowder loaded portion(20) receives a shock signal to pulls the operating member(18) in its longitudinal direction.
